Our Story
Hanyuan peppercorns, hand-selected chilies, and a name borrowed from a Tang Dynasty consort who loved richness and grace.
Guifei Spicy started with a pot of broth and a question: what if malatang could feel as refined as the ingredients that go into it? We source Hanyuan peppercorns for their citrus note and lingering warmth. We hand-select our chilies for depth, not just heat.
The name comes from Yang Guifei, the Tang Dynasty consort known for her love of richness and grace. That balance — bold flavour with quiet craft — is what we put into every bowl.
We believe good Sichuan food should be approachable. Whether you are trying malatang for the first time or you grew up eating it in Chengdu — whether you walked over from Walnut or drove in from across the San Gabriel Valley — you belong at our table. Our kitchen adjusts to you, not the other way around.
